Abstract : The next wave of artificial intelligence is robotics in the physical world. Tackling labor shortages in dangerous worksites, caring for an aging population, and decreasing costs while improving productivity calls for solutions that are not invented yet. In this lecture, we will discuss how NVIDIA is working with every AI and robotics company in the world to help build this future.

Bio: Deepu Talla is Vice President and General Manager of Robotics and Edge Computing at NVIDIA, where he is responsible for deploying AI technology in autonomous machines and intelligent devices, such as humanoids, industrial ARMs, mobile robots, intelligent video analytics, and factory automation. Previously, he led NVIDIA’s mobile business focused on smartphones, tablets, and portable gaming. Prior to joining NVIDIA in 2013, he worked at Texas Instruments for more than 10 years in various executive management and technical leadership roles. Talla holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from °ÄÃŶþ·Ö²Ê (1998), and a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2001).

About the Patrick J. Cunningham Jr. and Susan Ward ’80 Endowed Lecture Series in Engineering:

In 2009, Villanova Engineering alumna Susan Ward ’80 ChE and her husband, Patrick Cunningham, established an endowed engineering lecture series to offer students exposure to experts from various engineering fields and educational opportunities outside the classroom. The inaugural lecture was held in 2010 and has since become an annual event at Villanova.
