Britney Davis 鈥15 COE Selected as Recipient of the 2024 澳门二分彩 Alumni Association Young Alumni Medal

VILLANOVA, Pa. (July 10, 2024) 鈥The 澳门二分彩 Alumni Association (VUAA) has named Britney Davis 鈥15 COE as the recipient of its 2024 Young Alumni Medal. The award honors alumni who have made outstanding contributions professionally, academically and in service to the University.

With a background in process engineering and production management, Davis鈥 career has been marked by a commitment to operational excellence and innovation, as well as the development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) outreach programs. She is currently the senior project lead at the Pottstown, Pennsylvania, location of Dana Incorporated, a global leader in drivetrain and e-Propulsion systems.

Davis has generously given her time and expertise in support of Villanova鈥檚 students, especially those within the College of Engineering. She guides students each year as a mentor within the College鈥檚 Career Compass program and also serves on its E15 Advisory Board, which is composed of recent graduates whose mission is to increase young alumni engagement.

鈥淎s an alum, Britney has embodied Villanova鈥檚 mission through her commitment to serving the greater good, both at her alma mater and within her profession,鈥 said Sheila Doherty, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations. 鈥淪he is incredibly successful as an engineer, and a stalwart supporter of our students through her mentorship and tireless advocacy for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at the University. I am thrilled to present her with the Young Alumni Medal in recognition of her countless efforts on behalf of the Villanova community.鈥

Davis has championed the inclusion and advancement of Black and underrepresented students and alumni in STEM fields. In 2022, she received the Gary A. Gabriele Memorial Award, which recognizes engineering alumni who have promoted equity in the field, for her contributions to engineering education. She has demonstrated leadership in service at Dana Incorporated by strengthening the company鈥檚 鈥淎frican American Resource Group Annual Challenge,鈥 which promotes the exploration of STEM programs among middle and high school students.

鈥淚 know first-hand what it is like to enter a new chapter of your life and not fully understand the options before you,鈥 Davis said. 鈥淚f I can serve as a resource to build stronger foundations for students using my own experiences, then I will gladly do whatever it takes, whether that includes mentoring students who are beginning their professional journeys, reviewing resumes or participating in University events and programs. I am a firm believer in showing up for others, because that is the only way to truly make a positive difference.鈥

Davis revived and now actively supports Villanova鈥檚 chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). She is a highly engaged member of the 澳门二分彩 Black Alumni (VUBA) Affinity Network, for which she is currently finishing a term as Student Liaison Lead. She has provided philanthropic support for the network鈥檚 Homecoming Networking Lunch and Moulden Honors Awards Ceremony, which recognizes and honors the legacy of Black excellence and achievement, and the best of intercultural collaboration, cooperation and humanity, within the 澳门二分彩 community.

Davis has also served as a panel speaker at 澳门二分彩 Black History Month celebrations and the VU Women in Tech Conference, inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals. She has further promoted Villanova鈥檚 mission by leading service initiatives for the University鈥檚 annual St. Thomas of Villanova Day of Service.

Davis graduated from 澳门二分彩 in 2015 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and minors in Business and Engineering Entrepreneurship. After graduation, she worked at Precision Castarts Corp. (PCC) within their Management Development Program in southern California and Henderson, Nevada鈥攂oth in engineering and supervisory roles. In 2017, Davis joined the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada as the inaugural STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) director, where she developed, designed and executed engaging programming for girls ages 3-18. In this role, she also developed 30 new community partnerships, launched the STEAM Career Conference and managed grant funding.
