Dr. Linda Maldonado joins Villanova Nursing faculty

Linda Tina Maldonado PhD, MSN, RN joined the nursing faculty as assistant professor in fall of 2015. Dr. Maldonado has been a part of the Villanova nursing community as a clinical instructor, and part time theory instructor since 2014. Dr. Maldonado has also worked as a clinical instructor, and clinical assistant professor at other universities in the area, as well as various parts of the Unites States. She brings with her over 20 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing, and will be teaching Nursing Care of Childbearing Women and Families in the classroom, and clinical practica.

During her doctoral education, Dr. Maldonado focused on the history surrounding vulnerable women and children, and gained an understanding of how midwives worked with these communities. After receiving her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013, Dr. Maldonado was appointed as a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania鈥檚 Center for Global Women鈥檚 Health and Health Equity Research. Dr. Maldonado is well published on the subjects of maternal caregiving demands, and Latina intergenerational caregiving, and has been an academic guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania for the Midwifery Program.

Dr. Maldonado chose to further her career at Villanova 鈥渂ecause of its emphasis on the pursuit of knowledge through a context of truth, justice, and a spirit of love for mankind.鈥 Her career goals include 鈥渂uilding a program of research related to Latinas and intergenerational caregiving, participating in international nursing trips, and building a bridge between the history of nursing and other departments here at Villanova.鈥

Dr. Maldonado earned her PhD and MSN from University of Pennsylvania, and her BSN from University of South Carolina.
