Villanova is a dynamic learning community founded in 1842 by the Order of St. Augustine. The Augustinian values of Veritas, Unitas, and Caritas (translated as truth, unity, and love) guide intellectual and social life at Villanova to this day. In keeping with our Augustinian tradition鈥攚hich emphasizes service to, and care for, one鈥檚 community鈥攚e integrate sustainability and respect for the earth into our curricula, scholarly research, academic and community events, and institutional policy and practice.
鈥淚t is no longer enough, then, simply to state that we should be concerned for future generations. We need to see that what is at stake is our own dignity. Leaving an inhabitable planet to future generations is, first and foremost, up to us.
