Moot Court Board Sees Success in Competitions across United States
Six teams from Villanova Law鈥檚 Moot Court found recent success at competitions across the United States. Each team was comprised of two students from the Moot Court Board. The Board is the principal oral advocacy organization at the Law School and aims to enhance and showcase students鈥� courtroom advocacy skills.
In each Moot Court competition, students analyze and argue a cutting-edge legal issue in the context of a hypothetical case, from both the side of the plaintiff and the side of the defendant. Students use procedures modeled after those employed in state and federal appellate courts.
The Board鈥檚 recent successes are:
Michael Mauger 鈥�18 and Samuel Cooper 鈥�19 triumphed at the Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law Moot Court Competition at University of Nevada, Las Vegas William S. Boyd School of Law.
Rachel Lisitsa 鈥�19 and Connor Dalton 鈥�19 were finalists at the William B. Bryant-Luke C. Moore Invitational Moot Court Competition at Howard Law School in Washington, D.C.
Sarah Burke 鈥�18 and Kaitlyn Macaulay 鈥�18 were named semifinalists at the 23rd Annual Tulane Moot Court Mardi Gras Sports Law Invitational Competition.
Addison Fontein 鈥�18 and Omeed Firouzi 鈥�18 competed as semifinalists at the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Regional Competition in Brooklyn, NY.
Charles Scott 鈥�18 and Emily Wisniewski 鈥�18 were named semifinalists at the 30th Annual Domenick L. Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court Competition.
Danielle Van Buren 鈥�18 and Lara Ruggerio 鈥�18 were quarterfinalists at the 41st J. Braxton Craven, Jr. Memorial Moot Court Competition at University of North Carolina School of Law.
